They are understaffed. But this place is fune fir overnights in Anchorage, but not much else.

The hotel is in dire need of updates and major renovation. Although the staff was attentive at check-in, the hotel shuttle was a no show at our 4am checkout. I would highly suggest getting an Uber when you are ready to leave.

Switch for the lights were on the headboard and was very odd. Hit them with my arm and turned on at 4am.

Pros (+) Veip location is convenient on the shuttle service is good.
Cons (-) This is definitely an economy Hotel. Do not expect a lot of luxury.

Pros (+) Since I live in Alaska and go to the lower 48 often, I sometimes need a place to stay in Anchorage between flights. The Microtel is what I use for this. It is close to the airport, and cheaper than other places. Unlike the non-chain hotels, there are no surprises in the quality. The parking is free, and even though the rooms are small, their layout is kind of fun.
Cons (-) The outbound shuttle schedule leave a bit to be desired, and it often takes about 15 minutes for inbound to arrive. The free breakfast isn't impressive, but I often miss it because I leave at odd hours. There is only one elevator and it is slow.

Pros (+) We stayed at the Microtel for 2 nights. We were surprised how pleasant it was for only being a 2 star. The price was right, the staff very friendly and we had very few complaints.
Cons (-) The only main thing was that the room was pretty warm and even with the window cracked seemed a bit stuffy.

Pros (+) Modern, clean room. Quiet. Friendly staff.
Cons (-) Not a big deal but room AC pump was quite loud. We were not aware this is a pet friendly hotel. I love pets, but was not happy to unexpectedly bump into a pit bull that growled, snapped, barked and lunged at my 6-year daughter from less than 1 foot away.
