Pros (+) Traveling from the east coast all the way through to Colorado, we found ourselves in Kansas, running out of light, getting tired and driving through fairly sparse rural Kansas. It's beautiful country but we needed to find a small town to park it for the night. We landed on Russell, Kansas and the Fossil Creek Hotel. It's a local hotel, with local, homey touches. Fresh baked cookies upon check in. ...
Cons (-) It's a little pricey for basic hotel with Midwest touches but the omelets and breakfast make up for it, trust me. Don't expect a Hampton Inn or Hilton luxury.
