Honestly the car itself was okay. It was decent on gas which I appreciate. Unfortunately the actual car pick-up at the airport was terrible. When I got to the counter after a long wait on line, I was told I would need to bring the car back early because the drop off location was not open on Sundays. I only reserved the car for appr 48 hours. After I told the representative I couldn't do that, I had to get out of line, call the Hertz 1-800 number and speak to someone about my situation. Russell, the representative, couldn't change my rental without charging me three times what I had already paid. I was not going to do that. I booked the car thinking I would have it for the entire time I rented it for. He then told me to take the car and call to change the drop off location. This took over 30 minutes on the phone! Finally I went back to the counter and was given the car after getting a refund of my original payment and was charged $25 more. The entire process was unnecessary, ridiculous, and cost me time with my family in NC. I will never rent from Hertz and possibly Kayak again. If you're going to rent someone a car make sure the locations are open for pick up and delivery!!!!

The car was at another site from the airport. I paid $15.00 for a cab to get to the Hertz site. I was informed to return the car on Sunday morning to the same location. In order to cancel my reservation a return trip to the airport would be needed. I had several meetings to attend that day. October 23, 2022, Sunday morning the plane departure at 6:44 am. I contacted via phone Hertz and was informed it was a prepaid account, I made an attempt to get a cab at the airport at 4:00 am, and no cabs available. I returned the car at the airport with Hertz. It was very frustrating, and uneasiness. How can I return a car at another site with no cab available, and the possibility of no one to pick me up, and to return to the airport. It would have been better for me to return the car to the airport. Eventually, I returned the rental to the airport due to no transportation to the airport at 4:00 am.

I picked up the vehicle and was less than 2 miles from the location I picked it up at when a large roach crawled out of somewhere in the driver's side door and across the arm rest, scared me and shocked me! Also the windows had not been cleaned and were very hazy which isn't safe when driving. We also found a dread lock on the floor board in the back seat. Obviously not cleaning vehicles like they claim.

The young man at the counter was great very friendly and personable! However the lady that was working there with him was extremely rude and nasty! Her attitude is horrible for no apparent reason and does not have the personality to work around a customer service based business! A better job for her would be cleaning toilets or sweeping out the parking lot away from people where she can be angry by herself

Last drop of the person cleaning came in when working on making another back to back reservation while my car is in the shop since a week or so before winter break started. They tried to make a big deal about some pet hair on the driver’s floor mat. That and the location was incoming me that the hold charge was 175% of my rental plus the total for days I made reservation for. At all the other locations, even using a debit card, the hold amount was max $200 in addition to the rental amount.

The truck was clean. They did NOT have the vehicle that I requested. Did not downgrade the price and pickup was suppose to be at 1, received vehicle a 1:45 and was informed that it had to be back at 1 regardless of when it was checked out. Returned the vehicle 30 minutes early and was charged an additional $20. Will never rent from them again.

The agent was particularly rude and they had sold out of cars for the day, even though I had booked weeks ago. She sent me to another Budget facility, which was much more pleasant, but I also had a long wait there. I would not recommend Budget.

What could have been better was the fact that I shouldn’t need a major line credit card just to rent a car! I have kids, a verifiable job and still can’t get a car?! That’s insane. If a customer has the money for the amount quoted then I should be able to swipe a debit card or give cash and be able to get the car!

When I arrived at Avis, they simply said “will a pick up truck be acceptable?” I said yes and then she ran my card. At no point did she tell me that she was up charging me versus what I booked. At no point did I sign anything. I was told where to go to pick it up. That was it. I was asked to buy a damage waiver, but there was nothing to indicate pre-existing damage (there was some - in fact the bumper was touching a pillar in the parking garage.) Imagine my surprised when I got a significantly higher than expected bill. Avis did this same thing to my wife a couple months ago. They claimed she agreed to it and produced and electronically signed document.

They don’t exist. Budget/Avis at the airport honored the reservation. It took a while to even find out that is how it works. The Payless website said to go to the budget/Avis counters to get shuttle service off site but there is no one off site. Budget was great, but only had one person at the counter and a lot of people to take care of. It took about an hour to get through the line.

Transaction was through hotwire. Their emailed instructions directed me to a shuttle bus pick up. After waiting almost an hour, I looked up the company on the airports website and it said to go to the Avis counter. They were very helpful. Wish I hadn't followed the emailed instructions.
